How can I summarize a product demo against my own requirements?

Build a requirement-by-requirement review of a video demo, separating what is shown, claimed and still untested.

To summarize a product demo against your requirements, use Damas for a transcript and built-in summary, then compare each requirement with the actual demonstration. Keep demonstrated behavior, spoken claims and missing tests separate. The result is a manual review worksheet, not an automatic Damas evaluation or proof that a product will work in your circumstances.

Prepare the source and your questions

Damas accepts supported public, on-demand YouTube, Instagram and X video links up to 90 minutes. On iPhone, iOS 18.6 or later, internet, Premium and consent for AI processing are required. Process only material you are authorized to use. Private, restricted and live videos are unsupported; public media may also be inaccessible.

  1. Before reading the summary, write your requirements in your own words. Make each one observable: what must happen, with which input and under what conditions? These are your needs, not claims made by the presenter.
  2. Keep the original link and title. Provide the supported link in Damas and follow the current transcription and built-in summary instructions, reviewing AI consent.
  3. Wait for the result. Use the summary for orientation, then locate the full passages that address your requirements. Replay the source to check names, quantities, negatives and conditions.
  4. Watch the demonstration yourself. A speech transcript cannot establish an operation that is only visible on screen. Label visual observations separately, then edit and copy the checked text.

Build a decision record for each requirement

For each requirement, record your acceptance condition, the supporting speech or visual observation, the conditions of the demonstration, and the next test needed. Use “shown in this example”, “claimed only”, “not addressed” or “cannot verify”. A result shown with one sample is evidence for that sample; do not turn it into a pass for all your inputs. Keep the requirement status separate from your eventual decision to adopt the product.

Split compound requirements before assessing them. A demo may show that a document opens without showing that two reviewers can approve it independently. Keep those as separate rows. If a later statement limits an earlier promise, retain both passages and the narrower scope. “Not addressed” does not mean unsupported by the product, and “claimed only” does not mean false: each identifies a check still to do.

Fictional example: a document review tool

This is an invented teaching example about an unspecified tool, not a Damas feature list, a real test or a source quotation. Suppose a demo opens one sample document, the presenter says other formats work, and independent approval by two reviewers is not discussed.

Your requirement Evidence in the fictional demo Review note
Open our document format One sample opens on screen Shown for that sample; test a permitted representative input.
Handle another required format Presenter makes a broad statement Claimed only; request a demonstration with that format.
Two independent approvals No matching operation or statement Not addressed; ask about this requirement rather than infer failure.

Use the result to choose the next check

No overall score is needed. Pick the unresolved requirement that could change your decision and write a concrete follow-up question. A fluent summary must not convert an untested requirement into an accepted one. Never invent an owner, deadline, quotation or result. If the recording becomes inaccessible, unfinished checks remain unresolved.

You can build this worksheet manually. Optionally copy permitted, checked text into another LLM to draft its rows; label your requirements and source passages as separate inputs and review every proposed match. This is an external drafting step, not a Damas integration, automatic checklist or product-testing feature.

Start with the general summary workflow for the app steps. Use quotation checking before repeating exact claims, and source-linked sharing when you send the review to someone else.

Keep the original link, the review date and remaining questions with your copied worksheet. Processing time and accuracy vary. Damas does not download media, accept file uploads, dub audio, embed subtitles or process offline. Premium cannot bypass source restrictions. Share only within your reuse rights.
